Hi everyone,

Just a quick update on what is happening at the moment.

I’m in the process of a final proof of First Soul – Soul Keeper trilogy-  this book will be released in May 🙂 I’m very excited!

Here’s a taster of First Soul (bear in mind this may change with edits etc…)

What do you think you’re doing?!”

The three of them jumped at the sound of an angry voice behind them. They’d been caught by the police. Years of hiding and now, on this night with a map in hand, they’d been caught.

Chuffing great.

They turned slowly. Deyna shrieked and grabbed Phillip. Stephen looked at her. Her eyes were rolling into the back of her head, at least Phillip was there to hold her. Phillip appeared to be handling it better, although the colour had drained from his face a little.

It wasn’t Karl, the local bobby.

A middle aged man looked at them sternly. His translucent frame floated in front of them. Stephen held his breath as the ghost stalked towards them. An actual ghost, he’d never believed in all things spiritual and found himself searching for the special effects allowing him to see such a thing. It didn’t have feet, the bottom of what looked like trousers seemed to sink into the wet grass. He shook his head and closed his eyes believing this to be a dream, or some sort of practical joke.

Opening his eyes, he found that it wasn’t a dream. A ghost was stood in front of them, its face was contorted with anger as it stalked closer towards them. Speaking of its face, the features weren’t right when comparing it to a normal human being. Stephen could see the mouth of the ghost, it was set in an angry snarl. The ghost’s hair was the colour of good strong coffee which was cut in the short, back and sides style that was required for the army. He could see a nose but it was partly blurred due to the fact that he could see straight through it.

He’d always believed ghosts, judging from their portrayal in films, to be some sort of shimmery white form, but this ghost looked rather like the man he’d probably been when he was alive, apart from one thing and it set his teeth on edge with fear, the eyes. They were bottomless black pits, the eyeballs weren’t there.

But somehow, even with them missing, Stephen sensed them glaring at him.

I hope you like what you read, it’s not much but it gives you an idea of their first encounter with the ghost! 🙂 I really love the plot of this first book and cannot wait to start writing the rest 🙂

I’m also making headway with the second book in the Pendle Hill trilogy which is coming together nicely, a passage will appear on here once I’ve done a few more edits 🙂  I’ve also started designing the book cover  for this which is looking great! Book title reveal will be happening in the next few months.

I can’t believe we are nearly in April! Time is definitely flying, I guess because I’m busy. I’ve already done a school visit this year, done a spot on the local hospital radio for their book week and I’m organising more school visits. Hopefully this will be my year 🙂

Just another quick mention, I’m still doing the 500 likes on Facebook so please like and share for your chance to win some goodies 🙂

I hope that everyone has a lovely easter and I will speak soon.

First Soul book cover and blurb release!

Hi everyone,

I haven’t been on here for a while, sorry but I’ve been busy busy 🙂

Just a quick update on what I’m doing at the moment.

I’m drafting Pendle Hill book two (name reveal soon!) which will be out later this year.  There is quite a bit of work to do there but I’m loving the plot so hopefully when it comes out the readers will love it too! For those that haven’t read Returned yet, it’s available to buy from Amazon amongst many other places. Take a look on my website for links

The book cover for the second Pendle Hill book is coming along too 🙂 I have incorportated the same design idea as the first book,  Returned, but there are some different colours on book two. I really like how it looks at the moment! Reveal for this will come later in the year 🙂

I’m also organising several author days for this year. That’s always fun and exciting! I hope to spread the word about Returned and my new book.

On to today’s reveal 🙂 This is the book cover and back cover with blurb for First Soul which is book one in The Soul Keeper trilogy coming May 2013.

Top Ten YA book covers Part 2

And I’m back 🙂

5. The Selection – Kiera Cass

The selection

Look at that dress! Beautiful! I love the colour and the use of the mirrors behind her. It is a brilliant cover!

4. Endure – Carrie Jones

I have loved all the covers but the close up on this one and the intricate design in the background gives it a little something more.

3. Matched  – Ally Condie

I fell in love with this cover from the get go and I’ve loved the rest of them too. They are beautiful, yet simple covers. That one image sets up the entire book. This is a great way of showing that less is sometimes definitely more.

2. Entwined – Heather Dixon

You may see a pattern occurring here but I’m obsessed with pretty covers. This dress is also to die for! You are going to pick it up and look at the dress and once the book is in your hands, you’re going to be hooked!

1.  Shatter Me – Tahereh Mafi

Shatter me

Wow! I have yet to read this book but I’ve bought it because the cover was so striking. I love the use of the trees for eyelashes. Every time I look at it I find something new around the eye.

So, that’s it. I hope by showing you some covers of books that I’ve had to buy because of the designs they will somehow trigger your interest.

I will be coming back here to reveal more details on my upcoming book so keep coming back and checking! 🙂

First Soul

Happy new year!

I’m looking forward to 2013! I have three books coming out, ones that I’m very excited about!

The second Pendle Hill book will be released later in the year, I know those of you that have read it are dying to read the second. Sorry, but you will have to wait 🙂 I also have a lovely Christmas book (I know, I mentioned the C word- sorry!) coming out during the holiday season 🙂 The book cover is already designed so towards the end of the year I will put this on amazon. The book will be FREE so you can enjoy this without the pennies disappearing! 🙂

For now, I’m revealing the title and design of the first book in the Soul Keeper trilogy. I can’t give too much away regarding the plot of this trilogy. I can say that it’s a story surrounding three friends who have a very important task to complete. I’m in the process of finishing the design of my book cover and I will reveal details and snippets in the coming months 🙂 But for now, I’ve played around with the title of my book and this is what I’ve come up with is this…

First Soul

The cover is amazingly vibrant and I can’t wait to share it with everyone! 🙂

For now, I hope everyone is well and they are enjoyign their start to a new year.

I’m looking forward to blogging and sharing things with you in 2013! 🙂
